Embark on a sonic journey as Dom Rivers and Dre Taylor join forces on, "Looking for Love," a seamless blend of R&B and hip-hop.
Our thoughts, opinions, and live reaction to the latest album from Drake, 'For All the Dogs.'
It’s a good listen (Drake doesn’t put out bad listens), but there’s a whole lot that I like on 'Scorpion' but almost nothing I loved. I don’t think I’ve ever skipped through a Drake project as much as I have here. There’s still quotables for days but you gotta get through a lot of uninspired filler to get to it.
This was no holds barred Eminem and from the opening track alone he shows everyone just how lethal he is on a mic and the sharp, concise, and focused nature of the album makes this one of his most realized albums yet.
The beef was reignited between longtime adversaries Eminem and Benzino, but did anybody need this?? Let's chat.
While the dream pairing of Fabolous & Jadakiss didn't quite live up to the immense expectations, they did deliver a mostly satisfying project that's more Lil Wayne and Juelz Santana than Kanye and Hov. But ultimately they delivered in the area that mattered the most - the bars.
Faron Sage's "Head or Tail" single favors the thought provoking, socially conscious side of hip-hop to good effect.
If you know Freddie Gibbs then you already know his music is unapologetically hard, and 'Freddie' might be his hardest one yet. It's at the least, his most focused one. Only coming in at 10 tracks, there's not a moment, verse, or instrumental wasted.
Future & Juice WRLD is yet another collaboration that really has no reason for existing other than streaming numbers. A lifeless listen that doesn't bring out the best of either artist.
It's far from his best tape but it's still high quality mindless music that you can vibe and turn up too. If you're not expecting anything different from Future, then BEASTMODE 2 is right up your alley.
HNDRXX lacks the hard trap music but it seemed to soak up all the emotion and feeling that was missing on FUTURE, and it had a higher quality feel to it that made it my favorite out of the pair. I think however, he would've been better served combining the best elements from both projects to create something truly memorable.
The Lost Flash Drive is pure vintage fire from G-Unit. Classic Unit production and verbal assaults. Maybe a little too "classic" at times, but "Set the Pick" alone shows why they were so loved.
Our thoughts, opinions, and live reaction to the latest album from Don Toliver, 'Love Sick.'
More Life is his most experimental project to date; delivering a collection of the different eclectic sounds that have been inspiring his music lately. While initially I was disappointed that we didn't get more straight up hip-hop, especially after the more pop leaning Views, it's hard to argue the results. More Life is another win for him and will undoubtedly mainstream a lot of the artists and sounds it employs.
With "Whap Clatter," hip-hop artist Eclipseye presents a strong statement against the wair in Ukraine.
I don't know what happened to the Slim Shady who could point out society's absurdities with nonchalant ease or rip apart hard rap beats like no other, but going off of this album, that guy is all but gone. I have to go back and listen to his old music just to get this bad taste out of my mouth.
Kanye West has gone on another social media rant, this time aimed at everyone from Adidas to Hailey Bieber to Daily Mail and ultimately Drake.
Summertime Shootout 2 may not be Fabolous's best mixtape, but it's still a strong offering full of his vintage punchlines and topical references. Still waiting for him to 'level up' as he says frequently though.
While I do think Flatbush Zombies still sound too much like A$AP, they do come with their own flavor on "Vacation In Hell" and display amazing chemistry as they trade verses with an energy level that's always on a thousand.
In order to be distinguished from what’s not real, every movement needs its own distinctive traits and symbols; the hip-hop movement claimed its own identity through elements like fresh kicks and gold chains.
This joint project has been a long time coming but unfortunately it doesn't quite live up to it's potential. Instead of raising each other's level they instead fall back to their usual formulas on songs that sound more like past throwaways than fresh, new creations.
FUTURE feels like a by the numbers project from the rapper that ironically lacks a lot of the emotion and feeling that he often claims of others' music. Easily one of the more forgettable ones from his now extensive catalog.
For those expecting a more evolved or matured Future ready to open up, 'The WIZRD' will be a disappointment, but for those just wanting higher quality Future music than we've been getting, then he delivers.
Things just seem to gel better with Brown's more traditional boom-bap and sample heavy sounds as Ghostface Killah's sinister lyrics glide more effortlessly than before and the dark tales have decidedly more pop. The end result may be less ambitious than Younge's previous effort but it is a better match and a smoother listen.
