THAT iconic Notorious B.I.G. crown just sold for almost $600,000

The plastic crown, which became iconic, was originally bought for $6

Sotheby’s, the best-known auction house in the world, held a big hip-hop auction on September 15, 2020. The biggest hit was the iconic plastic crown worn and signed by Notorious B.I.G. just three days before the rapper was shot in Los Angeles in 1997. The crown might have been plastic, but it fetched enough money as if it was made of pure gold and diamonds – $600,000 ($594,750, to be precise). Sotheby’s initial sale prediction was between $200,000 and $300,00.

After the sale, the auction house posted this message on its Instagram site:

Other items on sale included 22 letters written by Tupac Shakur to his high school sweetheart, Slick Rick’s diamond eyepatch, Salt-N-Pepa’s jackets from the ‘Push It’ music video, and more.
