How do you use your time when your school classes are off due to COVID-19? Well, you produce beats that land you on Billboard Top 10 in the US! That is what 17-year old Glasgow, Scotland resident Blair Ferguson did, after all.
As GlasgowLive site reports, Ferguson, who also operates under the name of BLK Beats, did after his classes were called off in June 2020. As this site notes, “against the odds, he has secured a four-year management and publishing deal with one of hip-hop’s most successful and prestigious production collectives, Winners Circle, and landed a co-writing and co-production credit on the top 10 Billboard album Virgo World by platinum-selling rap artist Lil Tecca – all from his humble home studio in his bedroom.”
The track that did it all is “Closest to Heaven’” which has about 3 million plays across all streaming platforms since it was released in September. Blair said that he’s “been working as a hip-hop producer for the last two years, writing and producing with underground artists across the US and gradually growing my credits and contacts. When lockdown arrived, I had no idea that the effects of the pandemic would last this long, and my dream of getting to the States over the summer to work more closely with artists gradually became an impossibility. I’m honored that Winners Circle has shown faith in me and proud of the Lil Tecca credit.”
