Hip-hop has been around for decades now, so current distinctive innovations can now be counted in the artist’s approach as well as production elements that actually bring something new.

Both can be felt in “Affinity,” the new single by Californian duo Pure Order. The duo is comprised of rappers Nemesis and God’s Gift. What the duo does here is making their own take on the more soulful side of hip-hop favored by the likes of J Dilla and De La Soul.

The duo obviously has the capability and imagination to take such an approach, particularly having in mind that God’s Gift has previously worked with the likes of Kankick, Madlib, and the Lootpack.

As they explain: “‘Affinity’ is a sort of love song to hip-hop and our worldwide hip-hop family. It describes how creative elements are drawn together through powerful attraction to produce a colorful display of beauteous power that lasts indefinitely, such as that of a nebula created by the collision of the elements of a star during the implosion.”

And Pure Order actually does the sentiment justice.
