Switching from classically- trained violinist (playing with the likes of The Recollective Orchestra and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago to an R&B/soul/soft jazz artist can be a sort of a tricky affair for many artists, particularly if it involves showcasing your vocals as the main focus of your music.

Such a switch involves not only having vocals that shine, but some songwriting and arranging skills that can serve as a base for that. Presenting your original musical skills, in the case of Alexvandria (Hill), her violin playing, can work wonders, something that really happens on her debut 5-song EP Hopeless Romantic.

It is all here – Alexvandria’s extraordinary vocals, and some brilliant songwriting that ranges from soft jazz to R&B and Soul all wrapped up in detailed, intricate arrangements showcasing her classical music background and violin playing.

With the lyrics that present her outlook on things romance and love, it has the presence of that emotional element that would otherwise turn such music into background wallpaper, Alexvandria presents herself as an artist who will certainly make an impact as a solo artist further on.
