When a band or an artist come up with a record that is sung in their native language and not in the modern music staple that is English, many listeners shy away from it, without even being curious whether that record sounds good or not.
In quite a few cases, such skepticism makes them miss some excellent music which might even prompt them to search out the translation of the lyrics to find out what the band/artist is actually singing about.
One such album that just might drift by them this time around is the new release from the Greek band Bazooka and their album, Kapou Allou’ (Somewhere Elsewhere).
This five-piece band is originally from Volos, Greece, but relocated to Athens, comprising the core of the new underground psych-rock scene along with other bands, such as Acid Baby Jesus and Komodina 3.
The sound? In many ways, Bazooka follows the musical footsteps of the raw psychedelic garage style of Brian Jonestown Massacre, adding along the way, like on the title track the traces of Greek folk.
Combined with some excellent playing and production the album certainly begs quite a few listens and might prompt quite a few listeners to find out what Bazooka is really singing about.
