Artists from the so-called Down Under or Australia as it is otherwise known to have quite a knack to disregard what musical strands are supposed to belong to a certain genre and go about combining them with abandon.
In most cases, these combinations are not supposed to work, but actually, they do. And they often have success with such combinations around the world. Under there or up here, depending on your personal perspective.
Another case in this approach is Chained Lizard, a self-producing Alternative Pop Rock band, as they call themselves from Melbourne and their latest single “ELECTRIC VIBES.”
The band was formed by brothers John (guitar) and Chris Vozz (drums & electronics) in 2012, and also includes Olivia Lisa Marie (vocals) and Dom Vav (bass).
It took them quite a bit of time to start releasing music, starting out with two singles in 2020, with “ELECTRIC VIBES” being the latest one.
What becomes evident listening to this latest one is that they take the idea of pop and working within that genre quite seriously. Their idea seems to combine upbeat guitar music with modern electronic trends and female vocals, from Linkin Park to popular female vocalists like Lady Gaga, and add elements of intricacy along the way, well, to complicate things a bit.
They put it this way themselves: “As a band, we enjoy writing about the human condition and experiences that we can all relate to. In these crazy times, bringing people together through our commonalities is something that we strive for.
