Artists, musicians, and their work seem to be just another set of people who suffer from war, in the case of the Moscow, Russia band Apache Rose, the war in Ukraine. It forced Ilya Novokhatskiy the band’s principal songwriter as well as the whole band to go into exile in neighboring Georgia, where they have decided to record their upcoming releases.
The band has previously made a name for themselves with their debut album Attention! which presented their sound inspired by the ’90s grunge and alternative movements, evolving this tradition with their own original, electric energy.
Judging by this most recent single, that sound is continuing to be their trademark and will most probably be featured on the new album, since the band is now recording 6 full tracks and finishing several songs that were recorded in Moscow in 2022 before the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
In a Facebook post, Novokhatskiy added that he will be tracking all the instruments except drums himself citing “current circumstances” as the reason. “Apache Rose has always been more of a solo project with a cast of musicians helping me record. But over time I have become more confident in handling the recording instrument – and production-wise. In fact 4 out of 10 songs on the debut album Attention! were all recorded and co-produced by myself on all instruments except drums. And it’s hard to bring everyone into another country. I’ve brought in Anton Boyko, the producer of the first album, and he’s magic. So I’ll manage” – elaborated Novokhatskiy.
