If you were to look up the phrase ‘turn up’ you’d probably see a picture of Juicy J, Rae Sremmurd, and maybe a few others right there next to it, and I’ve been fine with associating them with that. But apparently they’re not fine with it, on Sr3mm they’re on a clear mission to show that they’re more than just a turn up and a good time. Unlike their previous 2 albums, this one isn’t lead by massive singles, in fact, as a whole it’s far more refined and subdued than anything we’ve gotten from them before. That’s not to say that there isn’t a good time to be had because they are still very much still all about having a good time and enjoying life, it’s just instead of the openly raucous nature of say “Throw Sum Mo”, it all plays in that hypnotic wave of say a “Black Beatles.” None of the production here ever hits that immense high but it shares in that ambitious and experimental nature. They’ve proven that they sound fine as solo artists but Sr3mm, while not musically as good as Swaecation and a bit better than Jxmtro, shows that they still sound at their best when feeding off of each other’s energy and what they both respectively bring to the table.
