One Piece Anime is Setting Full Sails Ahead into Its Next Egghead Arc

Luffy and the Straw Hats are set to cross paths with Dr. Vegapunk

The latest chapter in the ever-expanding saga of One Piece unfolds with the introduction of the Egghead Arc, kickstarting the anime’s journey into the next major escapade for the Straw Hat crew. After a gripping four-year battle against the formidable Kaido which was full of memorable moments (like Luffy awakening Joyboy), the anime now shifts its focus to explore the aftermath and the Straw Hats’ ensuing adventures post-Wano Country arc.

The start of the Egghead Arc, marked by Episode 1089 (air date Jan. 7), unveils two fresh eye-catching sequences that provide a glimpse into the Straw Hats’ revamped appearances for their upcoming island escapade.

The Egghead Arc, constituting the inaugural chapter of the Final Saga in Eiichiro Oda’s original manga, thrusts Luffy and the Straw Hats onto an island housing the enigmatic laboratory of Dr. Vegapunk. This sets the stage for a gripping narrative intertwined with a major conspiracy involving the World Government, a storyline that continues to unfold in the latest manga chapters.

For avid viewers eager to dive into this new adventure, the episodes of One Piece are currently available for streaming on Crunchyroll. Additionally, starting January 13th, fans can catch the action on Netflix as well.

The anticipation surrounding the Egghead Arc is not limited to its storyline alone; the anime treats fans to a fresh opening theme, “A-su!,” by the returning Hiroshi Kitadani, who previously provided the anime’s inaugural opening. Accompanying this is a new ending theme, “Dead Sunrise,” performed by the returning Maki Otsuki, responsible for the anime’s first ending.

Adding to the excitement are new voices joining the cast for this arc, including Yohei Tadano as Dr. Vegapunk, Shuhei Sakaguchi as Shaka, Aya Hirano as Lilith, Ryoko Shiraishi as Edison, Tokuyoshi Kawashima as Pythagoras, Kaede Hondo as Atlas, and Mutsumi Tamura as York.

The nearly 25 year old anime epic has taken fans on an incredible adventure, and we can only imagine what surprises they still have in store as we head down this final saga.
