Bakers Duz’n is one of those musical collectives that do have a solid, constant line going through their music, yet still adding elements that some might not fit in there, even though they do, almost perfectly.

The Canadian (Nova Scotia) band, which is 13-person strong on their live show has come up with a fitting 13-song debut collection that has a simple title of Vol. 1.

That volume though is full of funk rhythmic changes and swirls combined with psych rock and other touches inspired by such genre-experimental legends like Sly Stone, George Clinton, and all his mutations from Funkadelic and Parliament and further on.

And, all of it seems to be perfectly executed without missing any of the multiple rhythmic patterns the collective plays with here, combined with some incredibly tight playing and vocals to match.

At the same time, while basing their music on key developments in funk music from the decades that preceded them, Bakers Duz’n manages to bring in a fresh, new approach to the genre that gives their music that much-needed individual touch.

Will fit any holiday party, or any party for that matter, perfectly.
