How much can you say and convey about your music with a single that clocks just a second less of two and half minutes?
Maybe not that much, but you can at least give a glimpse of what can be expected from an artist and is there a promise there for the listeners in general and particularly those that prefer a certain musical genre.
Bloomingdale, Illinois quartet The Skye Bleu Crew (Jen Botka: Vocal, Jason Botka: Guitar and Organ, Johnny Gadeikis: Bass, Dominic Fallico: Drums) try to promise quite a few things with their debut single “Doll House,” particularly to the fans of Americana/Country Rock.
Within its brief running, The Skye Bleu Crew are able to come up with something that can already be described as a signature sound – Jen Botka’s vocals that range anywhere between Neil Young and Jackson Browne at his higher pitch, some excellent guitar work solid keyboard backing and subtle rhythm section and only accentuates the main elements.
It might not be such a surprise if you learn that most of the involved, except drummer Fallico (only his second studio session), are seasoned musicians led by Jason Botka who serves as a sort of master of the proceedings.
Essentially, “Doll House” is an enticing debut that just stimulates the listeners, particularly of the genre, to see/hear what else is in that dollhouse after all.
