And yes, on that song, as well as elsewhere on this album, Kilguss, presents herself as an artist that has both imagination and capabilities to come up with sophisticated pop and substantive lyrics that are both easy on the ear, and at the same time engaging that grey mass located between the ears. So it is no wonder that this former actress cites Marianne Faithfull and Mary Margaret O’Hara, two other singer-songwriters with the same approach to music.
With such an approach it was not hard for Kilguss to gather a stellar crew that has played with ‘almost everybody’ – from Patti Smith, and Lana Del Rey to David Crosby and David Byrne, coming up with an engaging, sophisticated pop album.
