It’s surprising to see that TDE’s newest signee is already dropping his debut album on the label. If we were to go by their track record they usually like to let their artists cook and develop significantly more before they can actually get an official release. But, I would say that SiR is at a much more advanced stage in his craft then say SZA was at this point, so here are. I haven’t heard a ton of his material before this but I did generally enjoy his music and November feels just like a more fleshed out and fully realized version of what we got on his previous mixtapes. It’s sultry, slow burning R&B that tries to intersperse snippets and interludes that allude to some higher conceptual space journey (although the music itself doesn’t really carry that forward). It’s a no fuss affair that moves through it’s 11-track listing at a fairly quick pace, and although it feels like it’s gone before it came, SiR’s buttery smooth vocals and strong songwriting make it a highly enjoyable listen throughout. He stands out in today’s soundscape as his music is rooted in more traditional R&B tropes of true love and relationships and leaves most of the trap production elements at home. In this way it’s a refreshing listen and change of pace from what’s out there today and while I don’t think it’ll set the world on fire, it’s a very strong starting point for even greater things in the future. TDE has yet to miss on an artist.
