This season felt a bit off pacing wise (and not just due it's disjointed nature) and I didn't find myself clamoring for the next episode like I was in the first season, but it progressively got stronger towards the end with some great scenes and their best season finale yet, leaving me re-energized and excited to see what will unfold in Season 4.
Noah Baumbach’s new film, The Meyerowitz Stories: New and Selected, which debuted last week on Netflix and in selected theaters, represents something of a summation of the director’s career up to this point; touching on most of the subjects and themes Baumbach has been dealing with in his work for more than 20 years.
Despite a summer of hand wringing over some big flops, the cinema isn't dead. Not even close.

Flytrap was an unexpectedly dope album for me; fusing traditional East hip-hop with modern Southern influences to create some of the best modern East coast hip-hop I've heard in a while. Pro Era just might have their next breakout artist.
Rogue One, despite not having some of the traditional Star Wars pillars, still puts together fantastic world building, engaging characters, and some of the most iconic moments I've ever seen. It's gritty and impactful in a way I've never felt from the series before and is a contender for my favorite Star Wars movie. A more than worthy addition to the Star Wars lore.
A Seat at the Table came out of left field and surprised as one of the most complete artistic projects to come out this year. The neo-soul production was absolutely spectacular and her honest, raw, social commentary make this a must listen. Her sister waded in the shallow end of black consciousness and cultural embrace, Solange dove in the deep end head first.
Despite 'so sad so sexy' running a bit tired, Lykke Li's voice still sounds fantastic on the somber backdrops and she's still puts out some massive choruses that are perfect for the festival rounds. Just don't expect anything groundbreaking from it.
Season 1 of The Gifted was a seriously flawed first season that still showed a lot of flashes of promise, especially in the back third. If they can build off of those great moments, add more levity, and ease off the caricatures then it can truly grow into something special, a la Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Looking back at the first five years of the marriage between Disney and Star Wars reveals a largely positive coupling. Not every move or decision they've made concerning the franchise has been universally loved and there's always the concern of oversaturation, but at any rate, the return of Star Wars has been welcome, and not only because there isn’t a Jar Jar Binks in sight. It’s just plain better to have Star Wars in our lives than not.
Mediocrity, whatever form it comes in, is rarely accompanied by large fluctuations in opinions because it simply can’t provoke enough investment and emotion. Hardly any other music genre falls on both ends of the love-and-hate spectrum the same way electronic music's most melodic and stirring manifestations - trance.
Reviving some of the animated classics from the 90's would surely get a lot of nostalgic people hyped. But unless a remake, whatever form it might come in, manages to capture their original essence and give it a fresh spin rather than just be more bait, I’d say some things are better off left in the past.
Culture is far from perfect, and it mostly adheres to their usual style over substance formula, but it is them at their highest and most consistent level yet. A very timely release for their careers which has waned a bit recently.

Doctor Strange was yet another origin story with a weak villain, but the spectacular, trippy visuals and great acting keep it from being too formulaic. The future ramifications from introducing magic in the Marvel cinematic universe alone make this one worth watching.
