Rock Icon John Cale is Set to Deliver A Brand New Album

Due out June 14 via Double Six/Domino

John Cale became a rock icon through his work with The Velvet Underground and his solo recordings as well. Now, Cale is coming up with a new album, POPtical Illusion, due out June 14 via Double Six/Domino.

The album comes relatively quickly after his previous, well-received outing Mercy (2023), after Cale served up new music after a decade of silence.

Cale produced the new album with longtime artistic partner Nita Scott in his Los Angeles studio. Throughout his solo career, Cale has often pushed the music boundaries without resorting to his past glories. Across its 13-track runtime, the album finds Cale playing synthesizers, organs, pianos, and more.

To announce the album Cale released a video for one of the tracks from POPtical Illusion, “How We See The Light” (which you can see above).
