Dynamic alt songwriter Ayleen Valentine has shared her love ballad “sex symbol.” The track is a love song written from a unique perspective; wanting to be somebody’s everything, like a sex symbol, a prayer, and at the same time a best friend for their little sister.
“’sex symbol’” started with a guitar loop I wrote five years ago. I was getting stuck with the song until I started to sing it in a throaty way I’d never done before,” explains Valentine. “I eventually landed on the concept of the song and liked it. The concept of wanting to be somebody’s everything, their sex symbol, their muse, their prayer, their innocence. It became a raunchy but pure love song and it’s something I’ve never heard before.”
Growing up in Miami, Ayleen Valentine always had a passion for songwriting and art. She dreamed of working with artists like James Blake, loved the rawness of rappers like XXXTentacion, and respected Grimes for her ability to self-produce. The 22-year-old Valentine dropped out of Berklee College of Music, where she had a full ride for music production, to move to LA and devote herself entirely to music.
Drawing upon her Argentinian and Peruvian background, Ayleen incorporates a fresh, distinct perspective in her songwriting mixed with her solid production style. She recently released her debut EP tonight i don’t exist, featuring hits like “why do i do that” and “next life”, followed up by mesmerizing tracks “anesthetized” & “epitaph” just to name a few.
