A New Sun Ra Tribute Album is On its Way

The album is set for release on June 21, 2024

Under the auspices of modern classicists Kronos Quartet, a new Sun Ra tribute album is ready for release. Titled, Outer Spaceways Incorporated – Kronos Quartet & Friends Meet Sun Ra, the album is set for release on June 21, 2024 via Red Hot (an AIDS-awareness nonprofit).

The album is credited to Kronos Quartet & Friends Meet Sun Ra, and those friends include Laurie Anderson, Armand Hammer, Moor Mother, Terry Riley, Marshall Allen, Sex Mob, RP Boo, and past Kronos Quartet collaborator Jlin.

“I love the idea of the title ‘Outer Spaceways Incorporated’ because it speaks to the interdependent existence of heaven being braided within us if we accept the charge to be employed by the Most High Boss of All Creation,” Muldrow said in a statement. “Kronos Quartet does a wonderful job of navigating whimsy and otherworldliness with their instrumentation and arrangement and I am honored to be a part of it.”
