Lowell George, Little Feat’s Late Leading Force to Get a Tribute Album

Out May 17, 2024

Little Feat’s founding member, songwriter, singer, and master guitarist Lowell George (previously a member of The Factory but also Frank Zappa’s Mothers of Invention) is getting a well-deserved tribute album.

The double LP, Long Distance Love – A Sweet Relief Tribute to Lowell George, will be released on May 17, 2024, and will feature, among others, Elvis Costello, Ben Harper, and Dave Alvin.

The tribute will be released in collaboration with Sweet Relief, an organization dedicated to providing financial support to career musicians and music industry workers struggling to make ends meet. It’s a worthy homage to Lowell George’s diverse catalog and contributions to the music industry.

Sweet Relief states, “Lowell George was the guitar virtuoso, vocalist and songwriter for Little Feat. He passed away too soon in 1979 but left behind an incredible legacy. This album celebrates his great work with 25 covers done by some of George’s friends, family, and admirers.”
