“Chlorine” was one of our favorite songs off twenty one pilot’s Trench album, so we’ve been waiting for the official video, assuming it’d get one sooner or later. And much like their previous videos, it’s another cryptic affair that’s sure to have fans combing through it, trying to find all the hidden meanings and messages behind their alien-looking, animated friend, Ned. LION BABE have been one of our favorite sleeper bands for quite some time now and 2019 looks like the year that we finally get that new project from them and if “The Wave” is anything to go off of, we’re going to be in store for some incredible grooves. The video wears the song’s inspirations on its sleeves with the psychedelic visuals, trippy colors, and ’70s aesthetics. It’s one hell of a vibe for sure. Out of all the songs on Teyana Taylor’s K.T.S.E., “WTP” was one that immediately stood out, and now that we got the official video for it, which is essentially a tribute to ballroom culture, we don’t know how we failed to make that connection before. She alluded to it in the “Fade” video but she took it to another level here.
It’s almost hard to go back to his old stuff after what we heard Metro Boomin produce with James Blake, but “10 Freaky Girls” was one of the better joints off his last album, and the video, while extremely basic, captures the moody, dark energy of the song well. Lil Wayne and a posthumous XXXTENTACION could have ended up being a real bad idea, but “Don’t Cry” actually turned out to be one of our favorite songs off his long-awaited Carter V album. The video’s strange mix of seemingly clashing aesthetics don’t seem to have much to do with the actual song, but it is an interesting watch at the least – and he pays his due homage to the gone-too-soon artist.
Check out everything I rounded up below and let me know which ones were your favorites.
