Torche : Black Cat

Miami rockers, Torche, arrived in D.C. last week and unleashed their unique blend of “sludge” and “stoner” metal mixed with genres of “shoegaze” or “dream pop” from their latest album, Admission. Whatever you choose to call it, Torche brought it and the fans loved it. Their energy was infectious, and the music was catchy and heavy, yet upbeat and addictive.

It’s obvious they love what they do and are truly excited to be out on this new tour. It’s been a few years since their last album, and Admission is a welcome homecoming. It’s emotional and personal, the type of album I know I will enjoy listening to over and over again. And I’m not the only fan with this mindset. For a hot summer weeknight here in the city, many other eager fans came out early and stayed late for the show. Below is a bit of the lyrics from a few new songs. Also, be sure to check out the video for the title track.

I’m alright
The kid isn’t gone
Your will is strong
Stay up ’til dawn
Climbing high
But fear that changes come
Last chance to say goodbye
And we know it’s not for long

– “Changes Come”

In days that last too long
And ways I don’t belong
Where am I to go?
Up from here

– “From Here”
