Tom Waits and Jim Jarmusch Are Teaming Up Again in New Film ‘Father Mother Sister Brother’

Along with Cate Blanchett, Adam Driver, Charlotte Rampling, and more

According to Variety, Tom Waits will again appear in a Jim Jarmusch film titled Father Mother Sister Brother. It’s described as a “comedy interwoven with threads of melancholy,” told as a triptych, and as Jarmusch himself notes, it will also have a musical component. The other announced actors include Cate Blanchett, Adam Driver, Charlotte Rampling, and Mayim Bialik.

Indya Moore and Luka Sabbat have also joined the cast, and the film is set to be finished this year.

Previous Jarmusch film The Dead Don’t Die (2019) also included Waits, which also saw the appearances of Driver, as well as Iggy Pop, RZA, Bill Murray, Selena Gomez, Tilda Swinton, Chloë Sevigny, Steve Buscemi, and Sturgill Simpson.

Father Mother Sister Brother will be the 5th feature-length film Tom Waits and Jim Jarmusch will be collaborating on, following 1986’s Down By Law, 1989’s Mystery Train, 1991’s Night on Earth, 2004’s Coffee and Cigarettes, and previously stated, 2019’s The Dead Don’t Die.
