Rock and Roll Hall of Famer John Fogerty was the man behind practically all of the songs (and quite a few of them were big hits) Creedence Clearwater Revival came up with. Now, for his latest album, Fogerty has decided to revive quite a few of those songs.
Titled Legacy: the Creedence Clearwater Revival Years, the new album includes 20 tracks of newly recorded versions of most of the key CCR songs – from “Proud Mary” and “Bad Moon Rising” to “Fortunate Son” and “Have You Ever Seen the Rain”—marking both a celebration of an iconic catalog and a personal reclamation of artistic ownership. “For most of my life I did not own the songs I had written,” says Fogerty. “Getting them back changes everything. Legacy is my way of celebrating that—of playing these songs on my terms, with the people I love.”
The album is a true family affair as it is produced by Fogerty and his son Shane Fogerty, with executive production by his wife Julie Fogerty. And both Shane and his brother Tyler Fogerty perform throughout the album.
A vinyl edition of John Fogery’s Legacy: the Creedence Clearwater Revival Years is available for pre-order now.
