As a number of outlets report, Joni Mitchell is continuing her series of archival releases with Archives, Vol. 3: The Asylum Years (1972-1975). The release date is set for October 6, 2023, on reissue specialist Rhino.
This collection will feature early demos and alternate versions of tracks from the sessions for 1972’s For the Roses, 1974’s Court and Spark, and 1975’s The Hissing of Summer Lawns; several live recordings, including a 1972 performance at Carnegie Hall. Also featured will be tracks from sessions with James Taylor, Graham Nash, and Neil Young.
Previous releases in the series include Mitchell’s early years and her time with Reprise Records for the Joni Mitchell Archives series. She’s also released the box sets The Reprise Albums (1968-1971) and The Asylum Albums (1972-1975).
