Norwegian cross-genre record producer and inspirational DJ Matoma, known for worldwide hits like “All Night”, “I Don’t Dance”, and his Matoma & The Notorious B.I.G’s “Old Thing Back (feat. Ja Rule),” is releasing “You Found Me,” his first global single of 2024 in time for summer and a run of newly-announced summer festival performances in the US and Norway.
“I’ve spent most of my winter here in Norway, but also dreaming of the warm memories of the summers past – and wanted to present a sound and a vision that combined the beauty of these two worlds that transports the listener with a feeling of blissful escape. It’s a mix between the Nordic emotional beauty and the feel good Ibiza vibes,” Matoma.
Co-written with Norwegian rising star SKAAR, the song explores the concept of being saved by someone or something that brings color back and joy back to a life where it became lost. SKAAR’s haunting vocals ensnare the listener with this tension (“I’ve been losing faith / so I just hide away / in the darkest places / over and over again”) before building hopefully towards a euphoric release with Matoma’s melodic and explosive production (“in the darkest hour / you return my colours / ‘cause you found me”).
“‘You Found Me’ is one of the first singles I wrote in my new studio in Oslo which is filled with beauty and magic from my childhood roots. Hilde (SKAAR) and I immediately connected and started exploring this concept of being saved by something or someone that restores everything good inside of you. I want people to feel that music can be their saviour,” Matoma
“I’m so excited to share this song with the world! It was such an honor to be invited to write for Tom’s project in the first place so I was just happy to be a part of the session. So when we came up with ‘You Found Me’ and I instantly felt in my gut that this was something special, that just felt like the icing on the cake for me. I love this song and feel like the topline is very much my musical DNA and the production is Matoma’s!! So it feels like a very natural and organic collab that I’m very proud to be a part of,” SKAAR.
