Indie Darlings The Happy Fits Are Back with their Exuberant New Single “Wild In Love”

Indie/rock darlings The Happy Fits shared today their intoxicating new single and official video for “Wild In Love.” The song is the latest to release off their forthcoming album Lovesick, due out September 19th, their first collection of new material following an emotional maelstrom of events that turned the band’s world upside down in every way imaginable. A pulsating track that throws caution and logic to the wind, “Wild In Love” captures the exhilarating feeling of dancing without a care.

“I wanted this track to feel like sprinting through a red light,” stated frontman Calvin Langman. “It’s the sound of falling for someone you know you shouldn’t, but loving the thrill of it anyway. The lyrics are breathless and frantic, like trying to outrun a consequence that’s definitely catching up. There’s fear, but there’s also this wild abandon that’s kind of intoxicating. It’s a little unhinged in the best way. I wasn’t trying to write a healthy love song; I was trying to write a true one.”

He continued, “We shot the video in Los Angeles with the amazing Jacqueline Justice on three different mediums: DSLR, 16mm film, and an early 2000’s handicam. Jacq had the amazing idea of getting couples in the wild kissing to portray how love is everywhere if you look hard enough. After some really awesome public meet ups we did in Philly and NY in the Spring, we knew we had to get one going in LA. The beach scene in the video was shot on Dockweiler Beach at the most perfect sunset, and we were luckily joined by around 30 awesome fans who joined from a secret text we sent out the day prior. The 16mm film shots really helped capture the nostalgia of the 80’s-inspired synth on this track.”

“Wild In Love” follows the release of the gritty, chip-on-the-shoulder rocker “Cruel Power” along with a stunning one-shot video featuring world-renowned dancer and choreographer Lucy Vallely. The lead single “Everything You Do” is also out now, an infectious, heartsick anthem.

Lovesick was written and recorded after ten tumultuous months that saw one founding member depart the band severing a creative partnership that had formed the group’s bedrock since the start, another leave tour to get sober following an emotional intervention, and a third entering an era of self-renaissance after the dissolution of a serious relationship and a series of relocations. Rather than let the hardship break their stride, though, the acclaimed quartet leaned into the turmoil, transforming all the heartbreak and uncertainty they experienced into their most exhilarating, adventurous, and cathartic record yet.
