Our thoughts, opinions, and live reaction to the latest album from 2 Chainz & Lil Wayne, 'Welcome 2 Collegrove.'
October had a ton of great new albums and music videos from the likes of twenty one pilots, Daughters, Travis Scott, and Lil Wayne; and it also featured some interesting trailers for Vox Lux, Glass, and The Prodigy. We've highlighted some of the best drops over the month and now we're ready to crown the best album, movie trailer, and music video.
Lil Wayne started this outpouring of mixtapes and artists like Future, Young Thug, and Curren$y have since tried to emulate that mythical run, but the purpose and definition of a mixtape has changed drastically since those early days. It's time we stopped applauding this endless wave of mediocre mixtapes and started calling it out for the cop out it is.
Kendrick Lamar is headlining the Super Bowl halftime show, and Lil Wayne fans and supporters pissed, and blaming Jay-Z for it.
We're finally back and discussing all the major happenings in music like Lil Wayne's long, long-awaited Carter V album, T.I.'s best album since Paper Trail, more unnecessary collabs from the likes of Lil Baby and Gunna, Vic Mensa killing his own career, and Kanye going off the rails (again). Oh and we also throw in some talk about the McGregor vs. Khabib sh*t show and go on a far too long aside about Dragon Ball Super (it happens more than we'd care to admit).
This week I'm talking about the latest from Lil Wayne, Kesha, Green Day, Russ, and more. Let me know if you agree/disagree, what you're currently listening to, and if there's anything I missed that I should check out.
Lil Wayne has finally responded to being snubbed from this year's Super Bowl Halftime show, and he's a broken man.

Lost in this whole Lil Wayne Super Bowl Halftime controversy, is the fact that Kendrick Lamar is one of the best live performers hip-hop has ever seen.

Katy Perry is back with new music, most notably the controversial single "Woman's World," but things aren't going well, and we can't look away from this fall off.
While not as musically impressive as 'Tha Carter' or 'Tha Carter II', or as impactful as 'Tha Carter III', Lil Wayne's 'Tha Carter V' was still impressive, especially considering it's countless delays.
A lot of people are mad that Lil Wayne wasn't picked for the Super Bowl Halftime show, but they forget, he's a bad live performer.
We're back and we're joined by special guest Jaron Lamar Davis, who joins us to talk about the major changes headed to both Spotify and YouTube and the positive and negative effects they'll have on musicians, particularly independent ones. Then he talks about the response and what he's learned from the release of his debut album earlier in the year, the pros and cons of music schools, and what he's cooking up for his next effort. Lastly we talk about signs of depression and cries for help in hip-hop music and whether the onus is on fans to speak up and/or reach out when they hear it over and over again.
