February had a ton of great new albums and music videos from the likes of Skyzoo, Drake, MGMT, and Janelle Monáe; and it also featured some interesting trailers for Wild Wild Country, Deadpool 2, and Solo: A Star Wars Story. More Life is his most experimental project to date; delivering a collection of the different eclectic sounds that have been inspiring his music lately. While initially I was disappointed that we didn't get more straight up hip-hop, especially after the more pop leaning Views, it's hard to argue the results. More Life is another win for him and will undoubtedly mainstream a lot of the artists and sounds it employs.
Drake's Summer Sixteen pop-up shop was great promo and an interesting way to reach out to fans and give out exclusive merchandise. If only they could have done something about the wait times and a lot of people unfortunately got left out.
After a short 2 week hiatus, Dareece was busy, we return to discuss the sudden passing of Prince, his impact on...

We're back and talking about Kendrick Lamar becoming the first non-classical, non-jazz musician to win a Pulitzer prize for music, Meek Mill finally being released from prison and whether we'll get a Drake collab to capitalize on the moment, and give our expectations for Drake's recently announced next album, Scorpion. Then of course we talk about all of the madness surrounding twitter and Kanye West and his upcoming projects. Lastly, we breakdown J. Cole's latest album, KOD, whether it's his best album yet, and try to understand why he's such a polarizing yet wildly successful figure in hip-hop.
We're back and discussing all of the recent tirades, outbursts, and backtracking that's been going on in hip-hop. From Nicki Minaj's post-launch assault on Travis Scott and everyone associated with him, to Eminem's vicious rebuttal to any and all of his critics, to Kanye West's recent apology to his fans and Drake. Then we close things out by talking about the latest projects from Ariana Grande, Bas, and Troye Sivan.
The long simmering 'beef' between Pusha T has full on erupted with Drake responding to "Infared" with the appropriately hard "Duppy Freestyle" then Pusha T escalated things to a whole other level with one of the most disrespectful disses we've heard in years with "The Story of Adidon." We talk about who we think has the upper hand, what's Drake's next move, and did Pusha T go too far? Then we give our reactions to Pusha T's Daytona album as a whole, discuss A$AP Rocky's horrible, horrible timing with Testing, and give a perfect score to Arctic Monkey's Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.
It's finally here! Drake's long awaited double-disc LP, 'Scorpion', is here and we give our track-by-track impressions and debate whether it lived up to the hype or not. But before that we talk a little music news with a bunch of lawsuits involving Coachella, Ed Sheeran, and Azealia Banks, and we discuss the recent passings of Joe Jackson and young up and coming Toronto rapper, Smoke Dawg.

Did Cardi B live up to the hype, a trio of perfect albums, and getting stuck in the streaming matrix
We're back and we finally got Cardi B's long anticipated debut album. We discuss our thoughts about the project and whether or not we believe it lived up to the immense hype and talk whether Nicki Minaj was being petty for starting her rollout right after it's release. We also talk about Apple Music removing the ability to download music and the increasing hold streaming services are having on people, if we think Coachella has become too mainstream and started to plateau, and our first 5 star album ratings of 2018 from Young Fathers, The Weeknd, and Saba - among other things.
It’s a good listen (Drake doesn’t put out bad listens), but there’s a whole lot that I like on 'Scorpion' but almost nothing I loved. I don’t think I’ve ever skipped through a Drake project as much as I have here. There’s still quotables for days but you gotta get through a lot of uninspired filler to get to it.
We just dropped Episode 3 of The Fearless Show a few days ago and now we’re back with the video...

The extent to which aspects of both classic art and contemporary music took on different meanings when paired together amazed me. The withdrawn looks of the subjects became coy and knowing when I wondered what secrets they would reveal “if these walls could talk”, Haim’s defiant anthem of “baby, don’t save me” became the voice of women in French high society, and Nina Simone’s simple lament felt inspired by the Avenue de Chantilly. Where the more traditional music pairings became incidental, the contemporary pieces were in dialogue with the paintings, both resisting and conforming to the tone suggested by the music.
We return to the Grammys to check our results on our winner predictions and see who came out on top. We also give our general reactions and thoughts about this years awards show and we fix the Grammys biggest problem. Then we end things out talking about some of the latest news and music out there.
For our first Musicphiles podcast of 2018 we have our very first guest on! Aspiring drummer/artist Jaron Lamar Davis stops by to talk about his upcoming eclectic alternative electric jazz hip-hop album called My View Through the Lense of Music and the process of creating his first album. As well as giving us a trained musician's point of view on Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly and the increase of jazz, blues, and funk influences in hip-hop and 'urban' music in general. Then he joins us in listing our most anticipated albums (confirmed and rumored) of 2018.
Trying to explain the genre-less nature of XXXTENTACION, David Byrne, and Jack White’s latest albums
We're back and this time we're discussing a lot of notable happenings in music like Tekashi 6ix9ine's interview where he gets the better of the usually on point Charlamagne, Drake, Snoop Dogg, and SoundCloud rap's first number ones, and Cardi B finally giving a release date for her debut album. We then question if it's still right to listen to R. Kelly's music despite the seemingly neverending string of sexual abuse allegations. And end things by giving our thoughts and reactions to the latest albums from XXXTENTACION, David Byrne, and Jack White, and struggle to explain the genre-less nature of them all.
