VLOG #2- Art Work Pt.2

In the post, "Art Work", I introduced myself as an artist and talked about what Art is to me, then I talked about being chosen for two Art exhibits and showed you the Paintings that were displayed. The work shown last time was a collection of paintings that didn't necessarily relate to each other; This time I'm displaying a specific body of work that was developed to be more cohesive by using similar content, materials, and formal elements......

MLK Day

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and so today I decided to write about what that means to me. MLK Day marks the celebration of a man who dedicated his life to making others lives better. The battles he fought, and the non-violent manner in which he fought them changed America forever and gave people hope all around the world. I never had a chance to hear/see Dr. King speak, and though he died many years before my birth I cannot deny that my life is significantly better because of what Dr. King did in his life......

Poetry Corner- Let America Be America Again

This time on Poetry Corner I chose to share with you a very influential poem to me, written by one of my personal all-time favorite poets, Langston Hughes. Written over 60 years ago, I feel this poem is still very relevant to today. America is and has always been in a state of change; it is up to us as the people (We are America) to make change..."To Make America" The poem may seem slightly long but each word is important so please enjoy the read......

Leftmore

Leftmore is the "band" name of singer/songwriter, Joe Ziegler, from Broomfield, CO. Wielding nothing more than an acoustic guitar and a pair of vocal chords named Rock and Roll, Joe travels the country far and wide to play shows just about anywhere. Independently booking tours since June 2008, Leftmore has carved out an intimate niche in the songwriting world......

Laziness

Like many other people in the world, I have a tendency to be Lazy. ...or is that just me?For those of us who do tend to be Lazy, getting out of this habit can be hard, and has proven on more than one occasion to cause more problems than solutions. Some would argue that there is no reason for being lazy at all, but I beg to differ. There may not be good reasons for laziness but there are definitely reasons. I've noticed that I think too hard about a situations level of convenience and/or uncertainty of something new, so even if I know I have to do it I still wait......

Art Work

Being an artist is tough, but so is anything when your self-employed. I'm not saying I survive on my Artwork alone, I'm saying my goal is to be able to survive on my Artwork alone. As an Artist, I'm always on the job. I don't wake up and put on my Artist uniform and then go to work, my minds constantly working on improvements and new ideas for art. Even if I'm working at a retail store I'd still be working 2 jobs at the same time. But calling art my job is a bit misleading. You can quit a job, or change a career, but I am inclined to make art forever. You could say I've discovered my destiny. Its been interesting getting to this point in my development but I've loved every moment......

Poetry Corner- Educate your sight, Educate your Feelings

Hey all! Its me again, Artist D. Walker and I'm here bringing you one more of my original poems. (Don't worry, it wont be my poetry every time.) So I'm currently in the process of writing several poems for my Contemporary Art class. I think they are coming out pretty well so I thought I might share with you some of what I've come up with so far. After you read the poem, please take a few moments to leave me some feedback. Write a comment on how it made you feel, or what things you can relate to in the writing etc.(this goes for all the posts on our site). I love to get feedback and responses because it helps me grow, so whether you like or dislike it please tell me whats on your mind( why you like it or dislike it, and what it's doing for you). This is a community so sharing is very important and the fact that you visited the site means you are important to me (and the LLF Team)......

Pressure To Be The Best

Pressure to be the best. Ever feel like there's too much pressure or competition, or that you're not good enough for something? Like you have to be the best? I've been feeling that way lately....Like theres too much stacked up against me. Then I realized it was all just in my head......

Things to Come

I started this blog about a month ago now and to be honest it was mainly for a class I had to take. I had no idea what to talk about, all I knew is I didn't want it to be about sports since I talk about that all the time and I didn't want it to be just about me. If I was going to do a blog I wanted it to be one where I could possibly help others and share my own experiences with chasing dreams, since we all do. This is what came out and to say things have gone well would be a gross understatement. Things here have progressed faster than I could have ever imagined and the site keeps expanding every week; the feedback from others has been great, the community has been growing rapidly, and I've connected with a number of great people. With that said we are planning some major updates to the site in the very near future and even bigger ones down the line. The first of these updates will be the creation of a logo to represent the site and everyone involved. I just wanted to throw a quick teaser up of some of the logos we've come up with along with a quick video showing the co-poster Dareece Walker drawing them up......

Poetry Corner- Lessons learned

Welcome back to living. life. fearless! and to the first of many posts in Poetry Corner. In my intro post (...Platform 9 and three-quarters) I mentioned that among art, video and music, I would also be sharing poetry. Poetry is a form of literary art where language is used for it aesthetic qualities(emotional tone). My perspective is that poetry can be insightful but also fun; when i write i try to puzzle piece feelings, words, and my ideas together until i feel confident in the result. This is an original poem that I wrote this past week that i titled " Lessons Learned"; I will be posting both my original poems and work by other poets, both amateur and professional. This poem represents how I have been feeling about life, and the things I feel I've come to understand about it......

…Platform 9 and three-quarters

Right now you're at a train station, and imagine that it can take you anywhere. Your mind is the train station. However, you want to go to a magical place where things you never thought were possible happen all the time. The only way to do this is to take a path unseen, a path blocked by a wall, a wall of disbelief. You must charge fearlessly through the wall of disbelief and there you will find a world of new possibilities (essentially what I'm saying is that you can't see the magic if you don't believe in it). Everyday we make choices based on the options allotted to us; Platform 9 and three-quarters represents a choice to pick a different option that most others don't see.Think of me as a professor from Hogwarts, I am on the other side, waiting for you to break through the wall and hop on the express to the world of magic; where dreams and fantasy become reality......

WTF!?!

For those of you who have been consistent visitors to this site you should have noticed by now that things are looking different around here and are probably thinking WTF!?! Don't panic, my posts will still be coming as they have and I will still continue to bring you the excellent content all of you have come to expect; phew right? Truth is this is the direction that everything has been heading all of along; from the outset of this whole thing I envisioned this evolving into a community of individuals who are chasing their dreams regardless of the obstacles and looking to reach their full potentials by living.life.fearless, and what better way to kick things off then to have four of my brothers become contributing authors. So not only will be getting the same great content as before, but now you'll be getting it with 4x the awesome, free of charge, and as always with no MSG......
