Gregg Allman became a rock legend not only as the co-founder of The Allman Brothers Band, but also because of his solo career. Now, a full-feature documentary will hit U.S. cinemas in the summer of 2026. The film is directed by James Keach, a music documentaries specialist who previously worked on films about Johnny Cash, David Crosby, Glenn Campbell and Linda Ronstadt.
According to a press release, Music Of My Soul uses “never-before-seen interviews and rare performance archives” to “weave an intimate portrait of Allman, candidly reflecting on the death of his brother and bandmate Duane, his battles with addiction, and the personal demons that shaped both his life and his music. The documentary is anchored by electrifying, rarely seen concert footage that captures the Allman Brothers at their creative peak, offering audiences an immersive, front-row view of one of rock ‘n’ roll’s most powerful live bands.”
James Keach is also one of the co-producers of the Gregg Allman film, along with Gregg Allman’s manager, Michael Lehman. To that effect, Lehman noted: “I am honored to have worked with Gregg and to have called him my dear friend. This film captures his true essence, and it’s profoundly meaningful to be able to share his remarkable story with the world. Gregg’s music has outlived him and will bring joy to many generations in the future.”
