At Anime NYC 2025, Netflix dropped the first teaser trailer for Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, confirming its global debut on October 14, 2025. The series promises slick, dark espionage wrapped in a suspenseful, visually arresting adult animation style.
Liev Schreiber Assumes the Iconic Role
Stepping into the shoes of Sam Fisher, Liev Schreiber brings voice to the series’ lead. Janet Varney returns as Anna “Grim” Grímsdóttir, while Kirby Howell-Baptiste voices original character Zinnia McKenna, and Joel Oulette joins as Thunder. The cameo-free casting signals a fresh yet faithful take on the Splinter Cell mythology.
Creators Behind the Mission
Deathwatch is led by head writer and executive producer Derek Kolstad, who crafted the John Wick universe. The series is directed by Guillaume Dousse with Félicien Colmet-Daage as co-director. Animation is courtesy of Sun Creature Studio and Fost under the banner of Ubisoft Film & Television.
Rain, Shadows, and High Stakes
The trailer delivers a potent dose of stealth action—rain-drenched chases, shadowy takedowns, and razor-sharp tension. Fisher is older, wary, and pulled back into a mission that’s intensely personal. The visuals promise a tone reminiscent of Ghost in the Shell and Ozark-style moodiness.
Franchise Revival—or Stopgap?
While fans have eagerly awaited a new Splinter Cell game, Deathwatch is the franchise’s first major entry since the last game in 2013. The series may serve as a catalyst for renewed interest—and perhaps, eventually, a new game from Ubisoft.
Splinter Cell: Deathwatch is set to premiere on Netflix, October 14, 2025.
