Punk Outfit TDA Launch a Sonic Assault on the Current State of the World with New LP ‘F*ck’

Assault on a world rife with sexism, misogyny, and transphobia

Punk outfit TDA (titsdickass) unleashed an all-out sonic assault on a world rife with sexism, misogyny, and transphobia on their new album F*ck.

In recording F*ck, TDA wanted to create a space for feminine rage and make rock music that was part of something dangerous. While making F*ck, Julia Pierce wrote songs about her Basque ancestry in efforts to honor the women who were unjustly persecuted during the Basque witch trials in the early 1600s.

Their sound is an amalgamation of the dissonant punk and no wave of Sonic Youth, the foreboding dark driving bass lines of Joy Division and the pain riddled, searing vocals one would expect to hear from Kurt Cobain at a Nirvana basement show in Hell. titsdickass’ music takes the listener on a futuristic journey to discover a new version of whatever that punk energy was that infected New York and later London in the late 70s. The band delivers their sonic assault with the urgency of musicians that live in a world rife with sexism, misogyny and transphobia.

Julia, a trans woman, drew from the feminist works “Whipping Girl” by Julia Serano, “The Feminist Troubadour” by Meg Bogin and Lilith and Pan mythology.

A total display of affection for speaker-shredding records and outsider art punk (Germs, The Gun Club, Kleenex, Swell Maps, Rudimentary Peni, Lydia Lunch, and Sonic Youth), TDA is a lucid departure, having opened for Subhumans (UK), Sick Thoughts (Goner Records), Lust Sick Puppy, Faux Real, Die Spitz and The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black.
