A previously unreleased album by the legendary jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald was recently unearthed in the private tape collection of Verve Records founder Norman Granz and it is now set for the official release by Verve.
Titled The Moment Of Truth: Ella At The Coliseum, and recorded at the Oakland Coliseum on June 30, 1967, the album spans nine tracks, most never heard before, and features Fitzgerald accompanied by members of The Duke Ellington Orchestra.
The recordings were mixed and mastered from the original analog multitrack tapes, resulting in pristine high-fidelity audio typically unheard of for a live concert recording of that era.
Ella Fitzgerald’s unreleased album, The Moment of Truth, is scheduled for release on February 28th, and can be pre-ordered here.
