Your Neighbors, the chaotic indie-pop outfit helmed by songwriter/producer Walker Robinson, have shared their dance-pop banger “VAMOS,” available to stream now on all DSPs worldwide. The track will be featured on the group’s existential nightmare-themed sophomore album American Hedonism, set for release on February 7th.
“On this album, I speak on my experience with the 7 deadly sins, and what it costs me to partake in them in my attempt to build my own garden of eden,” says Robinson. “In a world where hedonism is at its greatest, how does one strike the balance of leading a fulfilling life while also taking part in the pleasures that we as animals get immense hits of dopamine from?”
“‘VAMOS’ is the first moment where the character gets to experience pleasure without any existential guilt from some sort of deity,” he goes on to say about the latest focus track. “It’s pretty obviously sex-based, but it can apply to anything you feel like you wouldn’t do because of some inhibition from your upbringing or old code of living. You’re free to partake without a guilty conscience.”
Your Neighbors is headed by an insecure, low rent, drunken has-been with high expectations and a damning sense of self-awareness (aka Walker Robinson). He hires world-class producers and extremely talented musicians to make up for his lack of instrumental prowess and shallow lyrics. From Dad Rock to Hip-Hop, Your Neighbors hopes to find a foothold in the music world by throwing anything and everything at the wall hoping something will stick. Almost monthly, he plans on releasing new songs inspired by artists who are miles ahead of him creatively. If you don’t like the most recent release, not to worry. In addition to announcing their new album and sharing more music, Your Neighbors has announced their first US headlining tour, The American Hedonism Tour, which kicks off March 18th and will include stops in New York, Atlanta, Nashville, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
