Back in 1984, when then post-hardcore faves The Replacements were starting to switch their musical gears many critics though that naming their then new album Let It Be after a classic song by The Beatles is only a joke. Yet it turned out that now this album is considered as one of the ’80s and all-time rock classics. So it is no wonder now that reissue specialists Rhino are set to reissue that album on October 2025, as both 4xLP and 3xCD sets.
These sets will include unreleased material from the album sessions that includes alternate versions of “Gary’s Got a Boner,” “Favorite Thing,” and “Androgynous,” the last with a different vocal take and the full piano intro. Completing the set are five bonus tracks included in a 2008 expansion of Let It Be, newly remastered here, and a live album called Goodnight! Go Home!, comprising 28 songs recorded in August 1984 at the Cubby Bear in Chicago. An additional 10-inch vinyl called Live at City Gardens, a six-song soundboard recording made at a Trenton, New Jersey, punk club, is exclusive to Rhino’s website.

The Replacements were an American rock band formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1979. music was influenced by rock artists such as the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Faces, Big Star, Slade, Badfinger, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Bob Dylan as well as punk rock bands including the Ramones, the New York Dolls, the Buzzcocks, the Damned and the Sex Pistols. Unlike many of their underground contemporaries, the Replacements played “heart-on-the-sleeve” rock songs which combined Westerberg’s “raw-throated adolescent howl” with self-deprecating lyrics.
