Prince and music fans in general will probably flock to the IMAX theaters re-release of his 1987 concert film Sign O’ The Times when it starts showing on August 29, 2025. Tickets are on presale now.
The film will also be available on Amazon Prime. At the same time, Prince’s official online store, along with Amazon will use the opportunity to support this re-release with a series of merchandise specials.
This concert film is still considered as one of the best around, and strangely enough, it has been out of print as far back as 1991, and not available on streaming services for years either. The film was directed by Prince himself, capturing his 1987 European tour (Rotterdam and Antwerp), with some of the scenes shot at his Paisley Park soundstage.
His band on this tour included drummer Sheila E., Revolution keyboardist Doctor Fink, keyboardist Boni Boyer, bassist Levi Seacer Jr., guitarist Miko Weaver, horn players Eric Leeds and Atlanta Bliss, and dancer Cat Glover. Hits like “I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man” and “If I Was Your Girlfriend” as well as the Easton-assisted “U Got the Look” are all showcased.
