SoundCloud Launches On-Demand Vinyl Pressing — A Game-Changer for Independent Artists

SoundCloud is partnering with UK-based elasticStage to introduce on-demand vinyl pressing, allowing Artist Pro subscribers to press and sell vinyl records globally—with no upfront cost or minimum orders required.

How It Works

  1. Artists select tracks from their SoundCloud catalog, upload credits and artwork, and submit a vinyl release for review.
  2. Each vinyl record is pressed only after a fan orders it, eliminating excess inventory.
  3. elasticStage handles production, fulfillment, global shipping (90+ countries), and customer service. Artists earn revenue on every sale.

With vinyl sales surging over 300% since 2016, independent artists have been largely excluded—until now. The print-on-demand model removes financial and logistical barriers, enabling artists to offer physical music affordably.

This new program offers worldwide distribution without requiring artists to manage complex international logistics.

Eliah Seton, SoundCloud CEO:

“Vinyl sales have surged over 300% since 2016, yet most independent artists have been excluded from this growth due to high manufacturing costs and logistical limitations…This partnership…ensuring that every artist…has the tools to build a sustainable career.”

Steve Rhodes, elasticStage CEO & Co‑founder:

“We created elasticStage’s on‑demand vinyl technology to make physical music as accessible as streaming…our mission is to break down these barriers so musicians can sell vinyl with zero cost or risk.”

The pilot is open to Artist Pro users via a waitlist, with initial releases from artists like AM.RADIO, Blonde Maze, Diorvsyou, Kelcey Ayer, and Raina Simone.
