Rising Indie Rock Artist Alex Bloom Unveils Wistful New Track “Across the Country”

Los Angeles-based indie rock artist Alex Bloom has unveiled his wistful new title track + video “Across the Country.” It’s a bittersweet meditation on leaving things behind and carrying only what matters most. Through vivid snapshots of moving and memory, the song reflects on distance, change, and the one connection too important to let go. The accompanying video perfectly encapsulates the themes throughout the track, showcasing glimpses of Bloom’s life with his partner as they move into their new home.

“‘Across the Country’ represents a time in my life when I had to face the consequences of a big decision,” Bloom says. “This album deals with my experience moving home to LA from NYC after falling in love, and choosing to move even though it put my relationship in jeopardy. Musically, the song feels in limbo to me, giving a feeling of being in two places at once and ending up feeling you’re nowhere at all as a result.” He continues, “In the video, we wanted to capture some of the song’s themes of packing up and moving, traveling, and nostalgia for all the memories made in a place you may never return to. The video features my wife, who the song was written about, and as you can guess the story ended up having a happy ending!”

The single comes off his third studio albumAcross the Country. His longest and most involved project, performed and recorded nearly entirely on his own, acts as an autobiography. Across the Country is the culmination of everything Bloom has put into his music so far: the life experiences accrued, the artistic talent honed, and the wealth of musical knowledge gained – resulting in a sweeping statement that’s equal parts diaristic and universally applicable.

Alex Bloom has been writing songs since he was 15, inspired by the autobiographical style of John Lennon’s songwriting. From early on, his music became a way of capturing snapshots of his life – of feelings, moments, and places in time. “I think music is capable of holding so much of that information without it ever being explicitly communicated,” he says.
