Rising Artist Carter Vail Drops “Madeline”, His Ode to 2010s Indie Pop

LA-based artist Carter Vail has shared his new single “Madeline”, an ode to 2010s indie pop — what he considers to be the “golden age” of the genre. It follows the groove-forward “Stunner” (Carter’s first release with RCA Records) from earlier this summer and a standout debut performance at Lollapalooza.

The official video finds Carter introducing viewers to a new character named Coydog, a cowboy hat and suit clad loner who uses the power of a supernatural box to find companionship (think Hellraiser if it was directed by Wes Anderson).

This all comes on the heels of a banner year for Carter, from the viral success of the Bossa-nova inspired absurdist bop “Dirt Man”, which garnered over 30M views across platforms and led to a combined audience of 2M followers on Instagram and TikTok, to the release of his sophomore LP 100 Cowboys.

Vail’s a bonafide touring force with an upcoming cross-country headline tour starting later this month. Last year, he performed a number of sold-out headline dates and hit the road with Quinn XCII and Yung Gravy.
