Queens, NY alt-rock trio Mayzie Belle drops their debut single “Beach Bum” via Punkerton Records—a sun-drenched anthem brimming with hazy guitars, infectious melodies, and the kind of carefree attitude that belongs on every summer playlist.
With shimmering glide guitars layered over tight power chord rhythms, “Beach Bum” captures the blissful weightlessness of summer’s simplest pleasures. The song evokes the melodic rawness of The Breeders, anchored by lead vocalist Chrissy Menfi’s powerful delivery and a chorus that sticks like sand on your feet.
“It’s a modern day ‘Summer Lovin’ from Grease,” says Menfi.
Despite its breezy vibe, the song was born from a moment of introspection. Bassist Brandon Malave (also of polka-punk outfit The Dreadnoughts) penned the track after a day spent people-watching on Brighton Beach during a major life transition. The overwhelming sense of freedom he witnessed inspired a song that came together in a single night after bringing the idea to Chrissy.
Hailing from Queens, NY, Mayzie Belle is an emerging alternative rock trio with a sound that fuses shoegaze, surf rock, and punk into a raw yet melodic blend. Comprised of Chrissy Menfi (vocals), Brandon Malave (bass/vocals), and Adam Troselj (guitar), the band formed after the trio met in college and traded in cover sets for original tunes with serious attitude. United by their love for vintage fuzz and modern grit, Mayzie Belle aims to carve out a space for misfits and beach bums alike.
