Q&A: Megg Gives Us The Scoop On Her New Alt Banger “The End”

How would you describe your sound?

A tomboy growing up on a skateboard in the South Bay in the 90s with 4 brothers, a love for Britney Spears, a musical theatre background & an attitude.

What was the inspiration for your new single “The End”?

Musically, we wanted to write something riff-driven and bouncy. Lyrically, I was having an annoying moment of self-doubt and wanted to quiet the little bitch in my head.

Is that you on the cover art? That’s a hard picture.

Hahaha thank you, it sure is! The attitude started at a very young age, apparently.

What was the creative process behind this one?

Ah, a classic collab with my favorite dudes Rob Nagelhout and AJ Peacox. We got together at Rob’s studio, started with the bass line in the verses and the lead line in the breakdown and just kinda riffed from there.

Do you write alone or with others?

99% of the time, I write with others – I definitely prefer to collaborate. What’s better than making music with your best friends, ya know?

Can you give some insight into the lyrics: “It’s you you you, where the hell did I go?” and “you’re in my head, thought I was living alone”

This is the little bitch I was telling you about! It’s like, when everything in your life is going so well and you’re like genuinely happy, this asshole in your head tries to take over and mess shit up. “Where the hell do I go” came from a deep frustration with feeling like I couldn’t find myself or my joy as someone who is usually pretty happy. AJ came up with “thought I was living alone” like, you think you’re in control of your own thoughts but sometimes the negative shit can really try to take over.

Can we expect a video?

YES! The music video drops Wednesday, March 12th at 6pm PST on my YouTube channel

What’s next for Megg?
