Multi-instrumentalist Tamir Barzilay has shared his lush new ambient single “Fika,” along with the announcement of his new Colorfield Records release, Phosphene Journal.
The upcoming release features gorgeous contributions from Monica Martin on vocals as well as CF artists Larry Goldings & Daniel Rotem. As with previous Colorfield releases, the focus here is on discovery, on learning what happens when we step beyond the familiar. In Tamir’s case, he’s usually behind the drums or guitar, and here he spent most of his time elsewhere in the studio, feeling his way forward with Pete Min’s guidance, in a process he likens to walking blindfolded.
Tamir Barzilay is an Israeli-born drummer, percussionist, producer, and composer based in Los Angeles, California. He has collaborated with a diverse array of artists, including Jennifer Lopez, Sam Wilkes, Macy Gray, Jason Mraz, Adam Lambert, Larry Carlton, Lady Blackbird, John Carroll Kirby, Natasha Bedingfield, Kate Hudson, The Staves, Tal Wilkenfeld Band, Scary Pockets, Yemen Blues and more.
