Montreal Art-Punk Rockers Last Waltzon Unleash Bold New Album ‘Wethouse’

Montreal art-punk rockers Last Waltzon are thrilled to share their new album, Wethouse, available across all major music platforms.

Montreal-based Last Waltzon has crafted their entire sonic journey— from their explosive debut double single to a full-fledged 12-track album— at Montreal’s legendary Holy Mountain Sound. With masterful mixing by Chris Szczech (The Garden, Goo Goo Dolls) and a standout track refined by Kristopher Sampson (Omni, Balkans), this record defies genre boundaries, delivering a sound that lingers long after the last note fades.

Last Waltzon’s Wethouse thrives on controlled chaos, twisting post-punk and art-punk into something raw and unpredictable. “I Can’t Cook” clings to classic punk structure but warps it with jagged, experimental guitars and deadpan delivery. “Fat Piss” pummels forward with a relentless rhythm section and dissonant guitars that nod to Sonic Youth’s noisy brilliance. “Down Under” channels the irony-soaked lyricism of Fat White Family, laced with clever double entendres. And then there’s “Rehash”—short, sharp, and addictive—where a propulsive bassline and robotic precision drumming set the stage for guitars to spiral into chaos. Wethouse doesn’t just pay homage to post-punk’s rebellious roots; the record tears the roots apart and rebuild them on their own terms.

Born out of camaraderie and chaos, Last Waltzon is a four-piece art punk group based in Montreal. The band came together in the summer of 2021, bonding over groups like Women and The Velvet Underground. Bandmembers Jack, Judah, Cameron and Josh deliver a euphonious noise of unhinged punk vigor steeped in pop sensibilities.

With vocals reminiscent of Mark E. Smith, washed out guitars like Chicago’s Twin Peaks, and the angular bass riffs and drumming of a 1970’s CAN record; their live performances are an artful and infectious experience, exhibiting spontaneous onstage antics with a huge exchange of energy between the audience and band.
