Miles Kane shares his new single “I Pray,” the latest from his forthcoming album Sunlight In The Shadows. The record was produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys and releases October 17 via Easy Eye Sound. Opening with a delicately infectious guitar line, “I Pray” cascades into an unapologetically honest soaring anthem. Kane goes back to the basics in the accompanying music video, which was directed by James Slater (Sam Fender, Jamie T, Yard Act).
“I had the riff for ‘I Pray’ before I went into the studio with Dan, but it really came to life once we got working on the track together,” Kane says. “As I’ve gotten older I’ve become a bit more spiritual and have realised it’s important for me to tune into that side of my life, so this song is about being able to embrace learning something new about yourself while staying true to who you are.”
He continues, “I wanted something straight forward for this video, no bells and whistles. I went back to Liverpool to film it and just wanted to perform with the band so the song could speak for itself.”
Sunlight In The Shadows is 12 tracks of psyche-infused rock ‘n’ roll layered with lush, screeching guitars and packed to the brim with hooks. The album delicately toes the line between raw, energetic rock and laid-back crooning anthems, all with a sprinkling of Kane’s signature rippled tremolo guitar and a whole lot of fun.
The British singer-songwriter is an established UK artist with five Top 20 albums of pocket-dynamite pop and psychedelic groove as well as two UK #1 LPs as half of The Last Shadow Puppets with Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner. Teaming up with a host of incredible musicians for the record, Kane and Auerbach wrote the album’s 11 original songs with contributions from Pat McLaughlin, Daniel Tashian and The Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney. Auerbach sings backing vocals and plays on every track, alongside the record’s guitar army of Tom Bukovac, Cage The Elephant’s Nick Bockrath and Little Barrie’s Barrie Cadogan.
