Freddie Gibbs & The Alchemist Elevate Album Release with Arcade-Style Game for Alfredo 2

Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist are setting new standards for album rollouts—Alfredo 2, their long-awaited follow-up to the Grammy-nominated Alfredo, hits streaming platforms now accompanied by a surprise street‑fighter–style video game.

Released on July 25, 2025, via ESGN, ALC Records, and Virgin Music Group, Alfredo 2 brings back the acclaimed duo’s mafioso-inspired lyricism and cinematic production. The 14-track project features standout guest spots from Anderson .Paak, Larry June, and JID. It’s the follow-up to their Grammy-nominated 2020 album Alfredo and their third collaboration overall.

To enrich the album’s narrative, Gibbs and Alchemist dropped a Japanese-themed short film directed by Nick Walker, along with the powerful music video for “A Thousand Mountains.”

Game On: Alfredo 2: Arcade

In a bold marketing move, the duo unveiled Alfredo 2: Arcade, a retro arcade game inspired by the album. Available online, the game allows fans to play as either Freddie or Al and battle a mysterious “sensei” while streaming the album. As Gibbs announced on X: “Listen to the album on Spotify or Apple Music while fighting the sensei as Freddie or ALC & go for the high score.”

Adding to the momentum, the duo confirmed Alfredo: The Tour, a North American tour launching September 20 in Philadelphia and wrapping November 9 in San Francisco. Support acts include Jalen Ngonda, MAVI, and Sven Wunder. Tickets go on sale August 8.

Alfredo 2 debuted at No. 13 on the Billboard 200, marking the highest first-week sales figures to date for both Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist—37,000 album-equivalent units, including 14,000 in physical sales.

Critics and fans alike are calling it a career highlight. The album currently holds a Metacritic-equivalent score of 81, placing it among 2025’s most critically praised hip-hop releases.
