Fitzroy Holt Delivers Gritty, Bluesy Single “Around the Wrekin”

Drawing from the same well of bluesy, scuzzy rock that fuels acts like The Black Keys, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Kills, and Rival Sons, Fitzroy Holt delivers explosive new track “Around the Wrekin.”

He has a sound where folk storytelling collides with grit, noise and melody. His music can be tender one moment and explosive the next, carrying the scars of lived experience with restless energy that never sits still.

Raised in Dudley in the heart of the Black Country, Holt grew up surrounded by folklore, industry and outsider spirit — a backdrop that runs through every note of his music. Years of playing any room that would have him, from cramped pubs to late-night bars, shaped him into a performer whose shows balance hushed confessions with storms of noise, each carrying the same unpredictability that has become his trademark.

The upcoming debut album Around the Wrekin takes its name from a Midlands phrase meaning “the long way round” — a fitting title for a record written across more than a decade of artistic evolution.

“These are songs first sketched when I was a teenager to more recent work written during the intensity of touring,” explains Holt. “The album circles through my childhood, heritage, addiction and love. The record mirrors that circle, shifting between stripped-down storytelling and walls of distortion, never allowing the listener to settle.”
