Rising British singer-songwriter and guitarist Matilda Mann unveils her much-anticipated debut album, Roxwell, out now via 7476 (pinkpirate, Hohnen Ford, Lexie Carroll, Matt Maltese). The album is a testament to Mann’s artistry, blending intimate folk storytelling with indie-pop melodies, jazzy undertones, and sweeping orchestral flourishes. The album arrives hand-in-hand with the evocative new single “See You Later.”
A deeply personal body of work, Roxwell is as much a love letter to the past as it is a reflection on the poignant realities of growing up. From the intimate corners of bedrooms to the bustle of city streets and the quiet solace of countryside retreats, the album tracks Mann’s evolution as an artist and as a person. Themes of first love in “Tell Me That I’m Wrong,” heartbreak in “Common Sense,” and the enduring strength of childhood friendships in her new single “Girls” are all explored.
Speaking about the record, Mann shares “This is my debut album. Every song feels like a part of me, and I’m so, so excited that it’s finally out in the world. It explores different kinds of love, growing up, and accepting what you can’t change. Some songs I wrote almost subconsciously, only realising their meaning later. It’s terrifying to put something so personal out there, but I’m incredibly proud of it and grateful to everyone who helped bring it to life.
From lyrics penciled in her diary to demos played through the kitchen speaker, Roxwell is a living, breathing portrayal of Matilda Mann. Through the years, Roxwell has been her constant and has seen the twist and turns of the bittersweet transition to adulthood. This first full-length record is an intimate portrayal – capturing love in its myriad forms. The tracks are as varied as their subjects, but tying it all together are Mann’s classic lyrics – witty, wise and leaving you wondering what else she meant.
Mann’s rise has been nothing short of unstoppable. With a 15-date UK & EU headline tour kicking off in April.
