Exclusive Premiere: Sister Envy Unleash Irresistible New Gaze-Fueled Anthem “Swallowed By The Ground”

An awe-inspiring rocketship of soaring space rock

Today we’re extremely happy to premiere “Swallowed By The Ground,” a soaring new single from North Wales 4-piece Sister Envy. Available here first before it’s wide release tomorrow.

From the very first note, “Swallowed By The Ground” grips the listener with an urgent, punchy rhythm. The song’s intro sets the tone with a spiraling guitar riff that feels both intricate and effortless, evoking shades of Nirvana’s early work while maintaining a fresh, modern bite. The bassline hums with intensity, locking into the drums to create a powerful, driving backbone for the track.

Vocally, the performance is raw and impassioned. Frontman Kameron Jolliffe’s delivery teeters between controlled vulnerability and full-throttle grit, mirroring the song’s emotional ebb and flow. The verses simmer with tension before exploding into a chorus that soars—a moment of release that feels both triumphant and deeply personal.

Kameron Jolliffe says: “I had the main riff lying around for a while, and didn’t really touch it, though I really liked it. We started jamming it in a rehearsal and the song pretty much wrote itself, it quickly became one of our favorite songs to play together.”

Sister Envy hail from the North Wales coast, a place of mystery, harshness, and beauty, a place where opportunity is blocked for younger people yet dreams can break through. It’s here that Sister Envy met at college, this fast-emerging Alternative Psychedelic rock quartet and have spent time honing their sound on stage and in the studio.

Combining elements of the epic gaze sound of early Verve or My Vitriol with echoes of the sound of bands like Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana, Sister Envy are carving their own distinct place in our hearts.

Sister Envy recorded “Swallowed By The Ground” in Liverpool at the famous Motor Museum Studio with Ben Harper. Mixed in France by Welsh legend Owain Ginsberg and mastered in Austin, Texas by American producer Erik Wofford (The Black Angels).
