Naarm/Melbourne trio Acopia deliver a quietly devastating new single “Talk About It” via fast-rising independent label Scenic Route.
Centered around a gently looping guitar riff, “Talk About It” came together in just a couple of days. The song captures the subtle weight of avoidance, when silence becomes easier than honesty, and confrontation is deferred indefinitely. “That’s how we deal with it, we leave it at the front door,” sings Kate Durman, her voice soft and unflinching. The track doesn’t build to resolution, it lingers, much like the emotional tension it describes.
Formed in 2018 by Durman, Lachlan McGeehan, and Morgan Wright, Acopia began with deliberate creative constraints: slow tempos, minimal gear, simple rules. Over time, the trio shed those limits, allowing instinct and mood to shape their work. The result is a signature blend of dream pop, downtempo, indie, and post-punk, delicate yet emotionally charged.
Following their 2022 debut Chances (Companion Records), Acopia released their self-titled sophomore album in 2023 to critical acclaim.
Known for their immersive live presence, Acopia have performed alongside Bar Italia and Tirzah, and appeared at festivals including Golden Plains, Rising, and NTS Naarm.
With “Talk About It,” Acopia continue to find beauty in restraint, offering a song that feels like a quiet confrontation, or the silence that follows one.
