Crash Richard, the former Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros multi-instrumentalist and frontman of The Deadly Syndrome, shares new double single, “Swan AAA +1” and “Fool Moon (Cruised)”. Both tracks carry the intimate grit and restless spirit that have become hallmarks of Crash’s work and serve as striking previews to his forthcoming third solo album, Sensitive Devil.
“Swan AAA +1” is firmly earthbound, grappling with the endless human appetite for more, restless and unsatisfied, while reminding us that the gift of life itself is already the highest form of royalty and status. With a sly nod, Richard remarks, “Well, Burt Bacharach tried this long ago with Serge Gainsbourg, but it never came to fruition. You’re welcome.”
By contrast, “Fool Moon (Cruised)” is a cosmic plea for connection, transforming romantic yearning into rebellion, lush, lunar, and brimming with impossible longing. Richard describes the single as a reflection on the captivating nature of watching people risk it all, especially when so many are too afraid to try. “Who would dare shoot the moon?” he muses. The track blends blue-eyed soul with Pharcyde-style rhythm, wrapped in a velvet layer of ‘70s lounge jazz. “A lunar crooner gone beat poet, this is the kind of song William Burroughs might sip cough syrup to,” Richard adds. Together, both songs explore the tension between chasing what lies beyond reach and accepting the truth that life, as it is, may already be enough.
The tracks speak to the core of Sensitive Devil, out November 28, 2025, a record that turns inward to tell a deeply personal story across cities, generations, and genres.
